Not the Freedom 80. Its two stage heating virtually eliminates the discomfort of temperature swings caused by short-cycling, which is a situation common to single stage furnaces. The unit operates on the first stage more than 80 percent of the time, delivering more even, continuous heating. It switches to the high-heat stage only when absolutely necessary. And while the furnace may actually run longer, it ultimately uses a lot less energy on the lower stage operation than single stage furnaces.

And the Integrally Controlled Motor (ICM) operates quietly, particularly during first stage or low heat operation. During continuous fan operation the blower operates at 50 percent of cooling airflow, so sound is minimized.
